Photo of the day

Here’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while! It seems that I’m either always talking about the last wedding or portrait I’ve photographed, but in actual fact, there’s so much more that happens around here than just the last wedding or portrait. In order to give my clients their perfect album or wall portrait, every image is worked on for quite some time. I don’t do quick. My images are art and art takes time. Michelangelo didn’t paint the Sistine Chapel in one weekend after all! So from now on, you’re regularly going to see the Photo of the day. This could be a photo I’m currently working on or maybe a photo I’m just trying a new technique within or maybe it’s just a photo I like and have dug out of my archives to share with you all. Which ever way, I hope you all enjoy it. For those of you who follow me on Facebook you’ll be familiar with the Photo of the day album, now regular visitors to my blog can also see what’s going on.  So today I’ll start with a photo that was taken a few years ago during a shoot for Bridal House in Geelong. Love that dress!!

Portraits

Well it’s been a busy Summer with baby, child and family portraits. My new ‘Moment in Time’ portraits has really taken off and booking times are now starting to extend to two months if you’re wanting a weekend session.  Have you had a look at the new images on my website? I have added a Maternity, Fantasy and Family  portrait area. The new Moment in Time portrait section will be added soon. If you’ve been thinking of a family portrait, then now is the perfect time to have one done. March through to April is generally the best time for outdoor family portraits, so don’t wait until Winter when it’s cold and wet, Contact the studio and book in now. Just imagine an outdoor portrait with all the lovely Autumn colours that are about to appear!! There are so many stunning locations in and around Geelong for outdoor portraits to be photographed.  I’ve had a few people ask about hospital visits after the birth of your child. If this is something that you’re wanting, please make sure that you contact the studio prior to the due date and discuss this with me.  There’s nothing worse than contacting me after the birth only to find that I have other commitments. Don’t forget, you can follow all the happenings at the Studio through my Facebook page.

Anniversary

I was walking to the studio this morning and suddenly I realised that this year marks 20 years since I photographed my first wedding. Believe me, it was a bit of a WOW moment! Back then of course, the wedding was photographed on film (remember that?) I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous in my life!! Oh how times (and my style!) have changed. I’m sure I still have those negatives! I remember going down to the Geelong Waterfront for their location photos…it would be really interesting to find some of those photographs and compare them to one of the recent weddings I photographed down in the same location! I can honestly say though that I have enjoyed every single wedding I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph..there’s lots of memories there!! Maybe I should write a book?? Hmmm…. Here’s to another 20 years!!
